Power Saving For University Of Westminster

Wiremek replaced an LV switchboard at the University's Cleveland Street site which is fed via four 400 amp

low voltage supplies, providing excessivley high incoming voltage - between 420 and 425 volts.

Four 280KVA Eco-Volt power optimisers from Power Management & Control Limited were installed in order to reduce energy consupmtion and cut costs.

This particular project gave rise to several problems during the "Switchgear Positioning" phase because of the basement location, difficult access and lack of space to house the equipment. Wiremek's solution was to build a bespoke unit to contain the switchgear, the Eco-Volt devices and ventilation, assembling the units at its Rendlesham site and disassembling them ready for re-building in the underground plant room.
